Beethoven"s rooms in the "Schwarzspanierhaus" were on the second floor, on the left side of the building near the church. According to Gerhard von Breuning they were situated (counting from the church) between the fifth and ninth windows, the latter being "the one beyound the main entrance". Recently Walther Brauneis raised objections to this description and put forward a new suggestion as to the position of Beethoven"s rooms, presented in more detail in his introductory essay to Beethoven"s last lodgings.
