Lorenz, called Lenz, von Breuning was the youngest son of Beethoven's motherly friend Helene von Breuning. Still a child, he was introduced to the composer in his mother's house in Bonn. In the 1780s Beethoven gave Lenz piano lessons.
Also later when Lorenz von Breuning studied medicine, he remained in close contact with Beethoven. Their friendship deepened especially between 1794 and 1797 when Lorenz and his brother Stephan lived in Vienna and Lorenz took piano lessons again. Their close relationship continued even after Lorenz moved back to Bonn in the autumn of 1797.(S.B.)
