Beethoven asks his piano pupil Ferdinand Ries to postpone a concert date as he is too busy with other things. He has already spoken to Schuppanzigh about this. Ferdinand Ries was to play the solo part in Beethoven's Piano Concerto op. 37 in a concert in the Augarten conducted by Ignaz Schuppanzigh. Hans-Werner Küthen, editor of the piano concertos in the new Complete Edition of Beethoven's works, believes that the reason for Beethoven asking for it to be put off, is that in actual fact he had not yet written out the solo part for the concerto
