Beethoven writes to Köferle regarding his bank shares and their dividends. In addition he invites Köferle to visit him and Karl.
On the bottom part which has been separated from the rest and is now in New York, Karl van Beethoven writes to Köferle and also extends a hearty invitation for him to visit. He refers to the enclosed (not surviving) letter to Salzmann, which is only to be passed on.
In July 1819 Beethoven had bought eight bank shares. However he had large debts with the publisher Steiner and the latter demanded their repayment in December 1820. As a result Beethoven was looking for the least painful way to repay them.
