Beethoven offers his Leipzig publisher the Variations opp. 34 and 35 for a total of 50 ducats. He stresses that these variations have been done "in a completely new manner". He does not consider the price too high, especially as many new publishers are continually asking for new works of his. He asks Breitkopf & Härtel to see his offer as a token of his trust.
