Nice to know
Beethoven complains to his acquaintance and lawyer Kanka that he has once again not received payment of his rightful annuity from Prince Kinsky's heirs.
He asks Kanka to look into the matter there. Kanka had already advised Beethoven between 1813 and 1815 during the dispute with Kinsky's heirs concerning their part of Beethoven's annuity.
Beethoven tells him that he has sent a dedication to Princess Kinsky (op. 94). In an accompanying letter she has also been asked to pay the part of the annuity due to him ("in a respectful manner so as to receive what is my due"). In addition he assures him that he will send the promised sonata (Violin Sonata op. 96? Piano Trio op. 97?) as soon as it has been published. (Kanka was a great music lover and admirer of Beethoven's works; the composer had probably promised him music in return for his support.) Beethoven also wants to think of a present for his lawyer Wold (who had represented him in the legal action against the Kinsky family).
Finally Beethoven mentions that he is now in charge of his nephew, which makes him both "richer and poorer" at the same time.
