Nice to know
On 10 May 1817 Ludwig van Beethoven and his sister-in-law Johanna reached a settlement regarding the estate of Beethoven's dead brother Kaspar Karl (Johanna was his widow).
After Beethoven had become guardian of his nephew Karl (the son of Johanna and Kaspar Karl) the previous year, he now reaches an agreement with Johanna that she will contribute half of her widow's pension to her son's upbringing from now on. In addition Karl receives 2,000 florins Viennese currency from his father's estate. In return Johanna receives the sole rights to house 121 in the Alservorstadt.
