The first performance of Ries's opera "The robber's bride" in Frankfurt on October 15th 1828 was met with great success. Also the second performance was extremely successful. Seven other opera librettos were presented to the composer. Thanks to shortening some scenes during the last rehearsals, the opera's effect could be enhanced even further. Ries describes the omittances and effects in detail. Other changes are to be implemented after the fourth performance. (FG)
