Beethoven's brother Kaspar Karl replies to an enquiry from the Leipzig publishing house Breitkopf & Härtel. He apologizes that his brother does not write himself, but explains that he manages his brother's business affairs. Kaspar Karl offers Härtel the String Quintet op. 29 as well as the Second Symphony op. 36 and the Third Piano Concerto op. 37. The decision regarding opp. 36 and 37 can follow some time or other, but as far as op. 29 is concerned, Karl asks them, "to hurry a little - we would like to see it published soon because it is one of my brother's best works".
