Nice to know
Josef Nikolaus Lang was one of the very successful Austrian medal artists of the first third of the 19th century. He not only manufactured votive medals for renowned public figures from the political and cultural life but also designed numerous medals in memory of historical events such as the Battle of Leipzig (1813) and the victory of the allied monarchs at Waterloo (1815). Apart from that Lang focused on medals manufactured to honour important persons after their death.(S.B.)
