Nice to know
Just like his father Anton Kraft (1752-1820), Nikolaus Kraft was an excellent cellist. He stood in contact with Princes Esterházy and Lobkowitz. From about 1795 on, Anton and Nikolaus Kraft were also friends of Beethoven. On the occasion of the first performance of Beethoven's sonata in A major for piano and violoncello, op. 69, in March 1809, Nikolaus played the cello part. Whereas Anton Kraft remained in Vienna and is continuously mentioned in Beethoven's conversation booklets until 1820, his son Nikolaus moved to Stuttgart in 1814.(S.B.)
