Beethoven tells Collin of the problem of finding a date for an academy in Easter week 1808, and of drawing up an appropriate letter or having the discussion witnessed.
He had already earlier talked to the theatre manager Joseph Hartl, who was responsible for this, although he had not received a fixed date despite him having given his general consent. Beethoven is very annoyed about this and even considers taking legal action.
