Beethoven asks Karl Holz how he is and then briefly explains that he considers his nephew Karl to be innocent after all. (We know from the conversation books that Beethoven had suspected him of having taken part of the money for Karl's boarding house master Schlemmer (see BKh 9, p. 322ff and p. 329.)
