Nice to know
Franz Anton Rösler (originally Frantisek Antonin Rösler), a composer and bandmaster from Northern Bohemia preferred to publish his works under his Italian pseudonym, Francesco Antonio Rosetti. Since 1773 Rosetti played the double-bass in the band of the Prince of Öttingen-Wallerstein. Around 1785 he was named band and choirmaster. Four years later, he became bandmaster of the Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Regarding their style, Rosettis compositions fall between the Baroque and Classical period and resemble the compositions of the young Joseph Haydn. Rosettis works include various operas, 90 symphonies, numerous pieces for chamber music as well as oratorios and requiems.(S.B.)
