Nice to know
Johann von Häring, who had lived in England as a young man, often assisted Beethoven with his correspondence with English publishers. In this letter Beethoven asks Häring, whether he knows about the confirmation of ownership for the works which have been sold to the London publisher Birchall (piano reductions of opp. 91, 92, 96 and 97). Beethoven had first of all given the confirmation to Peter Joseph Simrock so that he could pass it on to the Fries house of commerce to be sent to England. In the meantime Birchall had, however, sent a written enquiry regarding the confirmation.
