Galitzin complains bitterly to Brendel, the editor of the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik. Schindler had apparently publicly accused Galitzin of not paying Beethoven for the three String Quartets opp. 127, 130 and 133 which he had commissioned the composer to write. The Prince had expected Brendel to print the correct version of the matter. He has now found out that Schindler has repeated his accusations against Galitzin in a new edition of his Beethoven Biography. Wilhelm von Lenz will, however, refute these allegations in his new book. To clear up the matter, Galitzin urgently asks Brendel to issue an official statement, making the facts public. In the second impression of his music history Brendel did in fact remove the passage which had repeated the false accusations made by Schindler in the first impression.
