Nice to know

Beethoven apologizes to Hans Georg Nägeli for the fact that he has only been able to find one subscriber (Johann Bihler) for the former's volume of poetry "Liederkränze". Beethoven explains that the bad reaction is due to "the continuing bad times caused by the war". Nägeli had asked Beethoven to find subscribers, including Archduke Rudolph. At the beginning of September Beethoven had already confirmed his own subscription and that of Archduke Rudolph (HCB BBr 29, BGA 1873).
