Nice to know
Beethoven recommends his friend Peter Joseph Simrock who lives in Frankfurt by letter. The son of his Bonn publisher Nikolaus Simrock had previously visited him in Vienna and was now on his return journey. Peter Joseph Simrock might even have delivered the letter himself. Franz Brentano in Frankfurt often acted as a contact between the publisher in Bonn and Beethoven in Vienna. In this letter, too, Beethoven asks him to find the most reasonable way of transferring Simrock's outstanding payments (he means the money for op. 102). In addition Beethoven congratulates Brentano on his being elected as Senator of the City of Frankfurt. At the end he briefly tells him of his nephew's successful operation.
