Vienna scholar and statesman Johann Melchior, Edler von Birkenstock, was a famous art lover, Collector and music lover. He owned a number of outstanding art treasures, especially paintings but also antique vases and copper engravings. Ludwig van Beethoven was a close friend of Antonie, the scholar's daughter.
