Location

Specific term for the sequence of sheets, particularly relevant for manuscript descriptions: sheets of paper lying one inside the other, usually (but not necessarily) stapled. Comprises at least 2 double sheets or 8 pages, as they result from the folding of a normal large sheet of paper. However, several sheets can also be inserted into each other, which increases the number of sheets within the quire. In research, quires are presented in graphical tables for descriptions and can be useful for determining paper affiliation and content sequence, e.g. for individual sheets separated from a manuscript.
