Edition
Defined by the uniformity of form: all copies of a sheet music edition have the same basic external appearance and design and are made from substantially the same plate material. However, there may be minor differences between editions, and individual pages may even have been newly engraved. Different editions of a work are designated according to their chronological origin as first edition (first print) and new edition (reprint) or as original edition and reprint if the composer's involvement and the relationship of dependence between the editions are to be emphasised.
