Mike Herting plays BAP

An evening of solo piano, blending Cologne, poetry and musical memories

  • Mike Herting, piano

Fifty years of friendship. Fifty years of shared musical history. In "Mike Herting Plays BAP", the pianist, composer and long-standing companion of Wolfgang Niedecken pays tribute to BAP’s songs in a manner that is as personal as it is surprising: alone at the piano.

Familiar songs are presented in a new light, melodies tell their stories without words, and rock music is transformed into moving soundscapes full of intimacy, poetry and memories.

An extraordinary concert evening for BAP fans, piano lovers and anyone who wants to rediscover great songs.

Wolfgang Niedecken:
For the past five years, I have been performing the solo programmes "Dylanreise" and "Zwischen Start und Ziel" with my friend Mike Herting. It is a great pleasure for me to perform with him every evening. For a storyteller like me, nothing better could happen than to work with a pianist who is completely absorbed in the music. Mike keeps everything under control whilst at the same time being able to improvise flexibly, so that no performance ever becomes stuck in a rut. We complement each other perfectly. It's certainly an exciting project for him to now be playing selected BAP songs on his own as piano versions, with plenty of scope for improvisation. I can hardly wait.
