Diversity and Discrimination in the Mirror of the Beethoven-Haus
To what extent do cultural heritage, 19th century monuments or the classical music business promote or undermine social cohesion in diversity? These topics are increasingly being discussed controversially under keywords such as identity politics, postcolonialism, CancelCulture etc. The Beethoven-Haus Bonn will take up these debates with its own series of events. With reference to the listed façade of the "Haus im Mohren" and to growing criticism of "Western" art music, historical questions and current experiences around colonial times, racism and structural discrimination will be examined.
