International Beethoven Master Classes 2026

Chamber music course with the Cuarteto Casals

This year, for the fourth time, the Beethoven-Haus is inviting young string quartet ensembles to a masterclass. The tutors are the members of the Catalan Cuarteto Casals, one of the most significant string quartets of our time, which has been shaping the international chamber music scene for almost three decades. The masterclass will focus on Beethoven’s string quartet compositions, particularly his late works. Four young ensembles have been selected to take part.

In addition to Beethoven’s birthplace and the modern chamber music hall, the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn houses the world's largest Beethoven collection and a centre for academic research. This enables a particularly in-depth engagement with Beethoven in an authentic setting. By studying the sources relating to Beethoven’s works, participants gain valuable additional insights for their interpretations.

The 2026 masterclass is made possible by the Eva-Maria and Berthold Schneider Foundation.
A detailed special brochure will be published for the course.
