The Charta Riesling BTHVN

A special edition for music and wine lovers, supporting young musicians. Now available in the Beethoven-Hause shop.

25.09.2025

The BTHVN Riesling 2024 was presented today in the Beethoven House shop. The traditional Charta Riesling from the Wegeler winery has thus been given a new name. It is an exclusive edition developed in collaboration with the Beethoven-Haus Foundation in Bonn and honours Ludwig van Beethoven in a very special way, as Malte Boecker, director of the Beethoven-Haus and managing director of Beethoven-Haus Sales and Service Ltd, explained.

The name BTHVN is based on the logo of the Beethoven House in Bonn, and the wine commemorates the connection between Ludwig van Beethoven and his friend and confidant in Bonn, Franz Gerhard Wegeler, an ancestor of the founding family of the Wegeler Wineries, which are among the most renowned family wineries in Germany. Lydia Lohmeier and Nils Gödde, managing directors of the Cantos restaurant, announced during the wine presentation that BTHVN Riesling had also been selected for the Beethovenhalle, which is set to reopen in December. The wine will be served there as a preferred choice.

The wine appeals to music and wine lovers alike. As Ralf Frenzel, owner of the Wegeler vineyards, explained, BTHVN Riesling comes from classified Grand Cru vineyards and is vinified according to the principles of the Charter Association.

To make the decision to buy the wine even easier, the Beethoven-Haus and the Wegeler Wineries have made a special agreement: the proceeds from each bottle sold will support the work of the Beethoven House Foundation, in particular the promotion of young musicians.

To mark the launch of the wine, the shop has put together a special offer: for the price of five 0.75-litre bottles, you get an extra bottle free of charge, bringing the total price of the package to €84.50.

Orders can be placed with the shop at shop@beethoven.gmbh.
