Beethoven and his fellow musicians from the Rhineland

International conference

Saturday and Sunday | 14 and 15 December 2024

Beethoven's time in Bonn has been well researched. However, the effects and merits of female members of the court orchestra, of multipliers in musical life and of female patrons have not been sufficiently analysed. The period of this exciting phase extends from the late absolutist rule of the last three electors to the Prussian Rhineland of the early 19th century. The conference examines the roles of women in the network that existed around Beethoven in the Bonn area and the influence of female patrons and other women in society.
