From 30 June to 3 July 2016, an International Beethoven Master Class for Chamber Music took place for the seventh time in the H.J. Abs Chamber Music Hall of the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn. The programme included the cello works of Ludwig van Beethoven.
The British cellist Steven Isserlis, one of the most outstanding artists on the international music scene, has been engaged as a lecturer. In 2014, he and his duo partner Robert Levin released a celebrated recording of the complete cello works of Beethoven. Steven Isserlis has selected four young cellists as participants for his master class.
A central component of the master classes at the Beethoven House was an intensive study of the sources in the house's extensive collection. The study of sources was supervised by the scholars of the Beethoven House and is a unique offer to young artists.
