BTHVN - Beethoven's 200th birthday

For successful marketing of Beethoven's 200th birthday celebration, the Beethoven Anniversary Association, located in Bonn, was founded as a non-profit subsidiary of the Beethoven-Haus Bonn Foundation. It initiated and coordinated the festive activities that were planned in the composer's natal city of Bonn and in the region for 2020. This promoted and improved commemoration and memories of Beethoven.

Ralf Birkner was named Managing Director, Malte Boecker was named Artistic Director. The members of the board of management are:  Chairman Dr. Günter Winands (Ministerial Director of the Federal German Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media), Vice Chairman Dr. Dettloff Schwerdtfeger (Managing Director Beethovenfest Bonn), Annette Storsberg (State Secretary at the Department for Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia), Sebastian Schuster (District Administrator of the Rhine-Sieg district), Ashok Sridharan (Mayor of the city of Bonn), Ulrich Voigt (Chairman of Sparkasse KölnBonn), and Michael Kranz (Beethoven-Haus Bonn Foundation).

The events and activities planned for the 2020 Beethoven year began on December 16th, 2019 and lasted until December 17th, 2020 (Beethoven's 250th baptism anniversary). Because of the pandemic they were extended to September 30th, 2021.
